Eisenheim (Edward Norton) is a magician in early 1900's Vienna, who falls in love with the Duchess Sophie von Teschen (Jessica Biel), who is well above his social standing. Although the two are forbidden to see each other, they meet in a secret hideout in the woods. However, on the day when they are going to leave, Eisenheim is unable to fulfill a request made by Sophie and the two are separated. He then becomes a master illusionist and travels the world. Death Note II Discussion Questions

1. What are both "L" and Light's definition of justice?
Which one do you prefer?

2. Why doesn't Misa kill Light's sister?

3. If you got a 'death note' someday in the future, what would
you do about it?

4. How does Light kill all the FBI members?

5. If Soichiro used the Death Note he wouldn't go to either
Heaven or Hell after he died, so why did he still use it?

6. As human beings are never perfect, our laws will never be
perfect enough either. In this situation do you think we need an
'angel of death' who can perfectly judge the world? Why?

Feel free to leave a comment giving your opinion.

PIFS Next Screening: Friday 13 April

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind (無痛失戀)

This is the story of a guy, Joel, who discovers that his long-time girlfriend, Clementine, has undergone a psychiatrist's experimental procedure in which all of her memory of Joel is removed; this after the couple has tried for years to get their relationship working. Frustrated by the idea of still being in love with a woman who doesn't remember their time together, Joel agrees to undergo the procedure as well, to erase his memories of Clementine. The film, which takes place mostly within Joel's mind, follows his memories of Clementine backwards in time as each recent memory is replaced, before going on to deleting the previous one, which is likewise seen, and then erased. Once the process starts, however, Joel realizes he doesn't really want to forget Clementine, so he starts smuggling her away into parts of his memory where she doesn't belong which alters other things about his memories as well...
